Despite fears that girls would be flattened by homesickness or spooked by a farm animal, the Form V trip to Milden Hall Tudor Barn was a huge success. In addition to dressing as Tudors, the girls engaged in nature studies, made lanterns, went out bat watching in the dead of night and may have permanently blinded several great crested newts with their torch beams.
Visits to Colchester castle, Flatford Mill, Ipswich Museum and Colchester Zoo were among the other highlights of the trip which saw the girls really emerge from their shells as they learned to be independent and confident away from the security of their home and school environments. Despite the weariness of both girls and staff when they returned on Friday, it would not be an understatement to say that a great time was had by all.
