Pupils were transported back in time as they enjoyed a typical day from the 1890s. Teachers, inspired by the prevailing Victorian attitudes of the time, demanded straight backs and impeccable manners at all times as lessons were delivered. Taking notes with slate and chalk, the girls were taught, amongst other things, the art of penmanship and hot to make the perfect cucumber sandwich. They welcomed an entertaining visit from Mrs. Prinsep, who had travelled out of the London smog by way of the newly built Metropolitan steam train line, in order to find out whether the PNEU would be a suitable school for educating her granddaughter Maud. Later the girls performed in a rousing music hall extravaganza.
