Junior School

Building on Early Years work, learning in the Junior School now becomes more formal.  The emphasis is on English and Maths and pupils are encouraged at an early stage to become independent readers.

There are regular Library sessions and girls can borrow books to read independently and share at home.  Your daughter’s class teacher takes all subjects except Science, ICT, French and Music which are specialist taught.  At this stage, many parents notice that their daughters are becoming more independent and better able to organise themselves for the start of the school day.

The Junior Years provide opportunities for girls to develop their own gifts and value those of others through music and drama.  Each class produces it own play in the Spring Term and takes part in the Junior Music Concert during the Summer Term.

In a supportive atmosphere, girls are encouraged to become more self-disciplined, self reliant and resilient to the ups and downs in life.  Great attention is paid to pastoral care and the needs of others.  Our policy of tailoring individual requirements and regularly monitoring progress through Junior Years ensures that every girl grows in confidence and can realise her full potential.

The Larks and Owls Clubs provide before- and after-school care respectively.  Both Clubs are permanently supervised by caring, qualified staff who ensure that the Clubs offer a true ‘home from home’ environment at the start and end of the day.  A wide variety of extra-curricular activities is available after normal school hours.
