"This is an excellent Early Years' Unit which provides girls with a wide range of stimulating and appropriate experiences." Ofsted Report.
Early Years takes girls through their first steps at the school within the Nursery. Here we lay the foundations for a lifelong love of learning, using every opportunity to introduce new experiences through work and play. In a happy, secure and caring environment, we provide every child with a high level of individual attention from both teachers and experienced classroom assistants. This creates confident and enthusiastic learners and also enables us to identify any particular needs at an early stage.
An emphasis on exploration has seen the classes visiting farms, model villages and the theatre. We also regularly invite special guests to the school - these have included a policeman, a fire engine and its crew, and real llamas. In Early Years we also introduce French, ICT and Music, subjects which are provided by specialist teachers.
At the beginning of a school day, we encourage parents to bring their daughters into the classroom for 'show and share' from 8.30am to 8.40am. Girls at the Nursery can attend Larks Club (on a regular or flexible basis) which provides supervised care for all PNEU girls from 7.45 to 8.30am. During the day, we have two supervised breaks when classes can enjoy playing in our garden and adventure playground. This is a wonderful opportunity for the younger girls to meet and get to know the older children, forming the strong links of friendship and trust, which run throughout the school and are an integral part of our ethos.
Minimum attendance at the nursery is three mornings a week, right through to full-time, five days a week options. We are happy to work with parents to agree a flexible approach, agreeing the number and timing of sessions which best suit your daughter's needs. Every girl is in full-time education by the term in which she reaches the age of five.
