About Us
Situated in a tree-lined avenue in Rickmansworth, we are that rare thing: a girls-only prep school which gives girls the opportunity to develop in an unthreatening and secure environment, where they are encouraged to show exactly what they are made of. Our school is all about growth; we challenge girls in the classroom, in the Science laboratory, in the gym and on the sportsfield; we take that raw talent and channel it so that, as our girls get ready to leave us, we can clearly see the essence of what they will become.
At the PNEU we adopt a gentle approach to our girls’ education; we encourage harmony and understanding – both inside the classroom and out. PNEU girls have a good relationship with their teachers and they socialise with girls from all age groups; our sports teams are phenomenally successful. From the moment they enter our beautiful new Nursery our pupils become PNEU girls and PNEU girls are widely recognised by Secondary School Heads as having an indefinable, and desirable, quality.
I firmly believe that girls should aim for the stars and we should give them the confidence and the ability to get there. It is essential to equip our daughters for their future in the most fundamental way: we need to educate them. It is no longer enough to hope that things will just pan out once school is over, girls need to understand the importance of forging a career for themselves, in order that they may become both successful and independent.
Our primary role at the PNEU is to secure the school of choice for our pupils at secondary transfer (and we have a phenomenal reputation for doing just that); I believe that we need to do more however. We need to give our students a good grounding in Science, Art, Games and Life Skills. We need to remember that we all have different abilities and that these need to be identified.
At the PNEU we give our students a great legacy, but we never forget that they leave us with one too.
